Title:  Digital FPGA Designer

  • Design, implementation, validation, system integration, and support of high speed digital FPGA designs in compliance with written specifications within a DoD process controlled work environment.
  • Design, implementation, validation, system integration, and support of high speed digital circuit cards in compliance with written specifications within a DoD process controlled work environment.
  • Parts selection
  • Symbol verification
  • Works with circuit card layout team, signal integrity team, and power/mechanical teams to assure successful circuit card operation in final systems.
  • Assist with bids, proposals, specification creation and updates, participation in code and design reviews.

The ideal candidate will have outstanding technical talent, effective oral and written communication skills, passion about his or her work, is excited by learning about and applying new technologies, and has a sense of ownership about his or her work and an entrepreneurial spirit. He or she will have some coursework or experience with digital FPGA (preferred) or ASIC design using a hardware description language such as VHDL (preferred) or Verilog; or he or she will have some coursework or experience with Digital Circuit Card schematic design


Baseline Qualifications Include:

  • An ABET (EAC/CAC) accredited Bachelors of Science Degree in EE, CE, or CS is strongly preferred, or an equivalent technical education with 6+ years related experience will be considered.
  • Coursework in digital integrated circuit design, digital circuit card design, or VLSI design.
  • Applicants must be self-motivated and willing to work within company defined development processes
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Familiarity with code revision management tools such as Git/Clearcase/Bitbucket is a plus.
  • Familiarity with C/C++ is a plus
  • Must be able to obtain DoD security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High speed digital CCA design experience incorporating FPGAs, current high performance processors (i.e. ARM, x86, ATOM), and networking ASICs
  • Experience with schematic capture tools (Mentor Graphics xDx Designer preferred)
  • Experience with high speed serial interfaces (10+ Gbps)
  • Experience with high speed signal layout, PCB stack-up, and termination techniques
  • Experience with industry standard interfaces including 10/100/1000 Ethernet, DDR3, DDR4, PCI Express
  • Expertise in FPGA simulation, synthesis, and placement software tools such as ModelSim/QuestaSim, Synplify, Xilinx ISE and/or Altera Quartus development tool sets
  • Expertise in either VHDL (preferred) or Verilog development languages.
  • Expertise in laboratory debug techniques using digital scopes, logic analyzers, BERTS, and other complex measurement devices.
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP Networking protocols and principles.
  • Experience with wireless TCP/IP Networking

Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered for our Digital FPGA Designer.

This position may be filled at a higher grade based on the successful applicant's skills, education and experience.

Secret  DoD security clearance.
