Employee Spotlight alert! Our Q3 company newsletter was about Innovation and Growth. Matt Warden, one of our fantastic Technical Recruiters, weighed in on how he brings innovation into his daily work. Let us know what you think of Matt's ideas, and feel free to share with us what are some of your favorite ways to bring innovation into your work day!
"As a recruiter, my role is to build relationships with candidates to support them throughout the submittal and interview process, which becomes even more essential when they transition into employees. Establishing a personal and genuine connection is most effective through face-to-face interactions. However, with the constant movement of individuals within the cleared space, it can be challenging to find time in people's busy schedules, especially when they are located across multiple states and time zones.
To overcome this, I leverage today's technology, such as Uber Eats and Microsoft Team meetings, to connect with candidates who are beyond my local area. Initial conversations over a virtual call can sometimes feel awkward, so I find it helpful to order coffee or lunch. Sharing a meal, even virtually, helps break down barriers and creates a relaxed atmosphere—especially when candidates choose a local restaurant I'm unfamiliar with, which serves as a great icebreaker. Combining food delivery services with virtual meetings allows me to connect more effectively with candidates or employees, no matter where they are located across the country."

We had our first ever Game Night at the office this past Friday and it was a blast! On the Border provided a delicious taco buffet and our amazing Director of Contracts made some absolutely delectable homemade margaritas to go with. 🌮🍹The favorites of the night were definitely Mario Kart on the N64, and we also had a hoot playing Taboo (it truly is the game of Unspeakable Fun, as they say! 🤣) Thanks to all those who attended, and we can't wait to have another game night soon and continue this new Cornerstone tradition! If you'd like to be invited to game nights in the future, drop us a comment and we'll make sure you are in the know. 👍🏻Any recommendations for other favorite game night games?!
