Q: What initially drew you to your field, and how has that passion evolved over time?
A: I’ve always been fascinated by technology, but cybersecurity intrigued me because of its ever-changing nature of new threats, new solutions, and a constant need to stay ahead. Over time, my passion has evolved into a commitment to not just protecting systems but also educating others about security best practices.

Q: What’s a valuable lesson you’ve learned from a work experience, good or bad?
A: One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that security isn’t just a technical issue, but it’s also a human issue. Even the best defenses can be bypassed if people aren’t aware of risks, which is why clear communication and collaboration are just as vital as technical expertise.

Q: What’s your strategy for staying motivated during challenging times?
A: I remind myself of the bigger picture on life and also why cybersecurity/technology matters and how it impacts lives. When things get tough, I focus on problem-solving, lean on my team, and take breaks when needed to reset.

Q: What are you most passionate about outside of work?
A: I enjoy playing & watching tennis, outdoor activities on the beach, mentoring younger people and being part of community engagement. It helps me stay balanced and keeps my problem-solving skills sharp.

Q: What’s a fun fact about yourself that most people wouldn’t know?
A: I found myself being able to make people laugh from my response to conversations. I love to laugh which is a healing for the body. It stimulates many organs and enhances our intake of oxygen-rich air, stimulates the heart, lungs and muscles, and increases endorphins that are released by the brain.

Q: What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?
A: Relaxing with family, friends and many activities surrounding water.

Q: What’s your favorite thing to cook (or order)?
A: I love a good seafood meal; however, I am not a fan of cooking. I can always get my family to cook a homemade meal that makes my body sing.

Q: What’s your go-to karaoke song (or song that always gets you pumped up)?
A: “We Are Family” by Sister Sledge ; It’s a great song of celebration.

Q: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
A: “Always be learning.” Technology and cybersecurity evolve rapidly, and staying curious is the key to staying ahead.

Q: Do you have a favorite quote or motto that you live by?
A: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel” and “I can be changed by what happens to me, but I refuse to be reduced by it”
